Chaka Khan: Don’t blame Bobby for Whitney’s woes

Chaka Khan says it’s ‘not fair’ that Whitney Houston’s death is blamed on Bobby Brown.

Whitney died in a Los Angeles hotel on February 11 aged just 48. The iconic singer’s passing sent shockwaves around the world, especially amongst her friends and those whose lives she had personally touched.

Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby has been largely held responsible for the star’s downfall, as she battled drug addiction following her union with him.

Chaka has hit out at people for blaming partners including Bobby and the late Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

‘That’s not fair. Addicts meet addicts. These were two strong-minded women,’ she told the UK edition of OK! magazine. ‘They had strong wills and determination. I watched Amy ‘ she was powerful. Having all that power over people can go loony for you. It can take you out.

‘My concern is for Bobby [Brown] and [Whitney’s daughter] Bobbi Kristina. I don’t want this cycle to continue.’

Amy was five times the UK drinking and driving alcohol limit when she died at her home last July, aged just 27.

The British songstress had a much-publicised battle with drinks and drugs throughout her short life.
