Throwback Male Group Rapper of the Day: 8Ball & MJG – 9 Little Millimeta Boys
8Ball & MJG is an American legends in hip hop duo from Memphis, Tennessee. 8ball and MJG met at Ridgeway Middle School in 1984. In 1991, released their first underground album Listen to the Lyrics. In 1993, they released Comin’ Out Hard, the album which was a big success in which lead 8Ball and MJG to become heavy one of the best Southern rappers at the time.
On Top of the World peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 200 and being certified Gold. The Group released over ten studio albums since 1991. Their previous record label includes; Suave House, Grand Hustle, Bad Boy, E1 Music, and Real Talk. Suave House out of Texas were 8Ball & MJG first record deal, which was a independent label. Suave House was own by J Prince. J Prince was know for linking up with a legends rapper or artist in the beginning of their career.
In the early 2000s, the group would sign with Puff Daddy Bad Boy Records. Their first album for Bad Boy Records, Living Legends, came out in 2004 and was certified Gold. Their second album on Bad Boy Records was titled Ridin High and was released in March 2007.
In 2005, 8Ball & MJG linked up with cross town rival, Three Six Mafia, and Young Buck and recorded the hit single Stay Fly. Stay Fly peaked as high as number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100. This single was the biggest for both groups
In June 2008 signed onto T.I.’s record label Grand Hustle. Their eighth album as a group and their first on Grand Hustle, titled Ten Toes Down, was released in May 2010. It reached number 36 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.
8Ball and MJG also released they own album and mixtapes solo. They are one of most successful rap duo in the United Stated. They work with almost all of the top artists around the world.
