A’Prail Monique Music.

Here is a little Bio of A’Pail Monique. Go follow A’Pail at @APrailMonique
A’Prail Monique, “Prail” as she is known by many as a native of what most will know as Cleveland, Mississippi. She is the oldest and only girl of four siblings. A’Prail and her siblings were blessed to be nurtured in their early years with the strong Christian foundation, principles and hard work by their mother Mandy. Mandy was called home to sit with the creator when A’Prail was 11 years old and A’Prail was then blessed to be raised by her loving maternal grandparents Manuel and Helen Coleman. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from Delta State University in 2006.

A’Prail began her singing and training in the church. Told by many that she could “sang”, she “sung” every day with all her might. As an ode to her mother’s wishes she gave her best support of her youthful creativity, and ambition, even before truly discovering her voice or being able to control her talent. She continued to sing in church, traveling from church to church, weddings, banquets, football games, pageants, charity events and concerts. She has had the opportunity to be amongst the likes of well-known producers such as: The Legendary Traxster, rapper and songwriter, who has worked with the rapper Twista, singers Mariah Carey and Chris Brown, only to name a few. As well as four-time Grammy Award–winning American singer, actress, author, and executive producer Tionne Tenese Watkins better known as T-Boz of TLC, and Blaze the Champ who has produced music for singers such as Dave Hollister and Day26, to name a few . On November 13, 2010, A’Prail was asked to sing the, “National Anthem” for the AND1 Basketball team’s event held at Delta State University courtesy of Southboys Entertainment. Known widely, in the Delta for her soulful voice she was requested to serve at the inauguration of Judge Catherine Farris-Carter on January 3, 2011. She recently performed her upcoming music releases during the Rock the City concert at the Bartlett Municipal Center in Bartlett, TN and at The Legendary New Daisy Theater on the famous Beale Street in Memphis, TN.

A’Prail Monique, the stage name that the world will soon hear singing, sounds in a blend of the pop light passion of Katy Perry, echoing rolls and natural acoustics of Brandy & Monica, the alto richness of Anita Baker, the sharpness of Chaka Khan, all while encompassing a southern charm. Her visual style is as eclectic as Solange, yet with an urban mixture of time periods. The dazzle and playfulness of the periods is representative of her appreciation for all forms of music and most importantly an acknowledgement of great music from the time before and beyond her.

Her road has not been easy. She has paused, rested, redirected, refocused, discovered, transformed and stood back up. She sings because it is second nature, because it reminds her she’s alive, well, able-bodied and celebrating every breath. There have been alternate paths taken, everyone speaks of odds and deferred dreams, but this has consistently been the dream that she can do nothing else but fight to make materialize.

A’Prail Monique aspires to establish a foundation and charity for young girls with interest in the arts that have struggled with circumstances that stood to break their spirits, the charity would be a building block for self-esteem, self-worth and most importantly to support the everlasting value of resilience. This step is just the beginning of what the singer A’prail Monique will be offering her future fans, current fans and the people that have influenced her sound, life and perspective.
