D’Angelo Surprises U.S. Audience for First Time in 12 Years
It’s amazing how much buzz singer D’Angelo has been able to make over the past few months, without having released an album in 12 years. At the crack of dawn this morning (June 10), D’Angelo appeared and performed on stage during The Roots’/Questlove set at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

Though D’Angelo didn’t perform any new material songs, he did share a few classics (along with the band), a set that included Jimi Hendrix’s “Have You Ever Been to Electric Ladyland,” Parliament Funkadelic’s “Funky Dollar Bill”, and The Beatles’ ”She Came in Through the Bathroom Window”.
D’Angelo is set to perform at the highly-esteemed Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this July.
After his performance, they asked D’Angelo if he was interested in an interview. His response, “Not yet.” D’Angelo surprised the world last month when he appeared, back to life, in a GQ interview.
D’Angelo has released two studio albums, 1995′s Brown Sugar and 2000′s Voodoo.
