Throwback Male R&B Group: H-Town Knockin the Boots
Throwback male R&B group of the week is H-Town. H-Town is an American all male R&B vocal group from Houston, Texas. It was originally founded by twin brothers Keven “Dino” Conner, Solomon “Shazam” Conner, and longtime friend Darryl “G.I.” Jackson. H-Town had all of the radio station in the early 90’s on lock down because the Knocking the Boots track. I remember older family dancing to the track and watching the video on BET and MTV Jams. The group only release four or five album pubic. The album Fever for Da Flavor reach high as sixteen on the US chart and went platinum. Beggin’ After Dark highest on the chart was ninty-eight and went gold in the United State. They was sign to Luke Records. Other popular song from the group was; Lick U Up, Emotions, Back Seat, They Like It Slow, which was everyone favorite back in the days. No other group has that sound like the H-town legend. R&B is not the same as it once was in the 80’s 90’s and early 2000’s. You can play H-Town albums from start to finish without hitting the next buttom. Today, albums only have two or three tracks that is worth listening to.
In 1993 H-Town was Nominated and won Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist for the Soul Train Music Award. In that same award show, they was also nominated for the Best R&B/Soul Single – Group, Band or Duo, for the song Knocking the Boots.
