Top 15 Hip Hop Artists of 2000’s
13. Andre 3000: Top 15 Hip Hop Artists
André 3000 played a major roll in the South Hip Hop movement. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Andre 3000 started out with the group Outkask around 1994. Big Boi was the other half of the group member. I think these two artists was a huge influence on the young artists today. Many Hip Hop groups sample their music today to make a hit. Both were apart of the Hip Hop group Dungeon Family.
3000’s and Big Boi were signed to LaFace Record, which they release the first album entitled, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik in 1994. This album went as high as 20 on the Billboard 200, for 26 week straight. “Player Ball” was the lead single for this album and this exposure took the country by surprise. “Player Ball” sold over 500,000 copies and also number 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Single for six weeks.
By the 2000’s, Andre and Big Boi had four studio albums. Albums such as; Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, ATLiens, Aquemini, Stakinia, Speakerboxx/The Love Below and Idiewild. Some other big records are “Rosa Parks”, “Ms. Jackson”, “Hey Ya”, “The Whole World”, “ The Way You Move”, B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad).
The legend in the south worked with artists such as; Snopp Dogg, TLC, Goodie Mob, Macy Gray, Dr. Dre, Erykah Badu, Eminem, Dude the Dude, Three Six Mafia, Chris Brown, David Banner, T.I., Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Q-Tip, John Legend. The list of artists goes on and on. Lets just say they work with the whole music industry.
Outkask won a Grammy Awards for Best Rap Peformance By a Duo or Group, Best Rap Album, Best Urban/Alterrnative Performance, and Album of the year.
