Representative John Lewis Currently Fighting Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer

Georgia Representative John Lewis not long ago opened up about his Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis of which he found out about through a routine check-up.

John Robert Lewis is an American politician and civil rights, leader. He is the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district, serving in his 17th term in the House, having served since 1987, and is the dean of the Georgia congressional delegation.

The Civil Rights activist made a statement saying:

While I am clear-eyed about the prognosis, doctors have told me that recent medical advances have made this type of cancer treatable in many cases, that treatment options are no longer as debilitating as they once were, and that I have a fighting chance.

79-year-old Lewis also wanted his colleagues, friends, family, and fans to know that he will continue to serve in Congress while fighting for his life.

“I have decided to do what I know to do and do what I have always done: I am going to fight it and keep fighting for the Beloved Community. We still have many bridges to cross.” – John Lewis
